Photography Checklist

The following is a checklist for you to consider for your wedding day. If you have additional special photos you'd like taken such as you and your 98 year old Aunt Ruth, make sure you write them down and give them to your photographer! They will shoot whomever you want! 

After all, you can't take back your big day and the rare, once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities! 

Getting Ready:

  • The process- hair & makeup application
  • Dress hung on a hanger near the most beautiful part of the room (arched window, near a vase of flowers, hanging on an antique mirror, etc.
  • Shots of the jewelry, shoes, and accessories
  • Mother adjusting veil
  • Bride putting on garter with bridesmaids looking on
  • Bride in front of mirror
  • Bride pinning corsage on mother
  • Bride pinning boutonniere on father
  • Flower girl and bride
  • Portrait of bride and mother & bride with father
  • Siblings
  • Bride getting into transportation for ceremony
  • Father helping bride into car

 

At the Ceremony Location (prior to ceremony)

  • Groom and groomsmen
  • Groom with best man
  • Best man adjusting groom's tie
  • Groom with officiant
  • Bride and bridesmaids in waiting
  • Groom's mother being seated
  • Bride's mother being seated
  • Preacher/ priest, rabbi, minister, etc.
  • Shots of the guests from the back of the ceremony site
  • Shots of the guests from the front of the altar 
  • Ceremony location inside and outside 
  • Groom looking at the bride coming down the aisle
  • Guests in attendance

 

During Ceremony

  • Flower girl, ring bearer and attendants walking down the aisle
  • Bride being escorted down the aisle
  • Bride being given away
  • Exchange of rings
  • General shots during the ceremony (unity candle, readings, vows, etc.)
  • THE kiss!!!

 

After Ceremony (still at the location)

  • Bride and Groom coming down the aisle
  • Groom kissing bride (posed)
  • Groom putting ring on bride's finger (posed)
  • Bride and Groom with Ceremony Officiant
  • Bride and Groom in transportation (with / without champagne toast)
  • Receiving line
  • Family photos not taken before the ceremony

In Between (ceremony and reception)

  • Shots of Groom with best man/groomsmen

At the Reception

  • Wedding cake (prior to being cut)
  • Guests signing guest book
  • Place cards, menus, champagne glasses, centerpieces, favors 
  • Introduction of the wedding party

  • Bride and Groom toasting each other
  • Bride and Groom first dance 
  • Father/Daughter dance

Wedding Tip #5
If you get married on a holiday weekend, it is strongly recommended that you book your reception facility 16 months before the big day!
